PRAHA - I LL BE BACK....

The last day I spend it at the Castle. Its great. I went to the Museum of the Historz of the Castle and the exhibit is really well done, it shows the history from prehistoric times to modern day.

I will continue this later.... OK, today is later. January 7 at about 5 pm.

Praha was everything...and more...of what I have heard about. I did not know really what to expect so I guess that contributed to the wonder and magic of the city. The food was good and the beer cheap, 1.50 to 2 bucks for a pint, a real one,the glasses look like buckets!! and I have acquired a new taste for beer, yummmy!

People are very friendly and service is either excellent or terrible, nothing in between. There are a few bitter people around, the typical stereotype of the very grumpy lady with thick socks and slippers. Talking with young Czechs there is a lot of tension between generations, parents and children are not understanding each other at all. Young people have not grown up in the communist regime so the view of their world is very different from the parents (more so than the regular one that happens anyway) at least that's what they say. The young czechs seem to want to stay in the country to work, and although unemployment is at 9% professionals tend to get jobs easy. There are lots of self-employed people.

There are many bars that are totally cool, it's hard to tell from the street, they look dingy and empty but then you go downstairs and there are all this places under ground. Some have low gothic celings, some were dungeons, some are just like that, low lights or just candles lots of drinking and very very animated. the only thing that sucks is the smoking, though after these weeks the smoke doesn't bother me that much anymore.

Praha I think is one of my favourite cities together with Amsterdam and NY. Its misterious, magical, beautiful, unusual, medieval and modern, old and new at the same time. There is great art and applied arts coming out of here. Lots of culture, writing - of course - , great Jazz. Ah! about jazz I went to this little jazz tavern under the Charles Bridge, has perhaps 10 little tables, fits about 40 people everyone almost on top of the musicians. Stayed there until 1 am, drinking....beeeer!! really cool place. I'm writing things down so when any of you might go I can give you some tips.

I have some cool pictures that I'll send as soon as I can download them. Praha....I'll be back, absolutely!!
