I KNOW, I KNOW

For all of those of you with children or 25 nieces and nephews perhaps this baby thing is not that interesting, but for me, being a new aunt is a major life event.

I have not been around kids at all. The last babies I am related to are 27 and 28 years old. My friend's girl, Lorena is the one I've seen develop the closest, and now Andrew, Daniela's boy. But it is amazing that this kid came out of my sister. Oh! yes, I like being the aunt and I am already enjoying this bundle of joy so much. It is so neat to love someone just because they are, just because they breath. Imagine! I'm even willing to maybe sometime change a diaper, although I think I do need to go and buy some gloves, not good with those things... but heck! I'm the lucky one that will have the chance to be close to Carlo, see him every day, so maybe changing the diaper (yuk!!) is a privilege :-)

So another time I'll finish all the story of the birth and will post some pictures of the baptism. I've asked for permission to start a Carlo blog, so we can post his pictures and all that, I mean, he's a 21 century baby, born in the age of communication and blogs, so, looks like he's going to have his own.

Anyway, YES, I've lost my mind and my heart to this baby boy and guess what....makes me so happy! hihihi

MY BIG FAT MEXICAN-CHILEAN-CANADIAN BIRTH - part I

The arrival of Carlo to this world was nothing short of comical and dramatic, I think great material for Lino’s comedy show.

Bea started w/contractions while cruising around Granville Island w/ Richard, my dad, Jacqueline and Ana Laura. Nothing happened. Then they went home and I arrived to visit and was talking with my friend Bridgitte about going dancing. I decided not to go so I could spend time with my family. Around 9, B started to get this horrible contractions and she looked in pain, so the whole Burron Family started getting the camera, the video, the pillows, lalalala, all walking around the apartment like little chickens about to be beheaded.

We arrived to Women’s Hospital in Vancouver which is supposed to be the best in women’s care in western Canada. B&R went to register but “there were no beds”, so poor B was just walking up and down the corridor. CNN (aka as Ana Laura) got on the phone to announce we were at the hospital. My dad and Jacqueline sat quietly as we all saw B pacing up and down the corridor. At about 10:30!!!! They put her in an observation room, put all sorts of plugs to monitor her pressure and the baby’s heart bit and the contractions started to hit strong! B had requeste the epidural. They said “they can’t do it in this room”.

We asked for the doctor (the one in turn) and the damn *&^%#&^ doctor didn’t show up until midnight, eating chocolates and laughing. The nurses were having a convention and the cows forgot to bring B any pain killers. As the contractions got worse, the level of stress of the family went up – As B was doing an incredible job of focusing while the contractions hit, by pushing against the wall, squatting and breathing, Richard and I were fighting with the head nurse, the nurses got all upset because we called another hospital and the other hospital called them to ask what was going on; the doctor kept eating chocolates and telling B what a nice pedicure she had; my dad was yelling “Carolina, do you have a good lawyer??” Jacqueline kept going through all the things that can go wrong, mind you she gave B great tips for breathing, AL reporting from Vancouver would come into the room walking like the Pink Panther, pushing the curtain for a bit and inserting her tired little head between the wall and the curtain, “peeling” her eyes and walking back to the waiting room (like the Pink Panther) to calm my dad down. Carolina and Richard kept barking at the nurses and the doctor. When Richard decided to move B to another hospital a bed “miraculously” appeared. By this time it was almost 3 am, B had been having horrible contractions and all of us were suffering with her.
To be continued….

BABY IS HERE !!!

In this picture, Carlo was not even 24 hours. Isn't he just a cutie??!!

Beatriz finally "popped" the kid!!

CARLO was born on February 1, 2007, at 8:44 am.

3.3 kilos or 7.6 lbs
55 cm
lots of black hair
fair skin
big blue/grey eyes
mouth like his dad
6 perfect fingers on each hand and 4 toes on each foot (LOL)
makes the most melodic and cute noises ever
puts his little hands besides his head for a good sleep!

I'm so, so, so, so, happy I can burst out of my seams!

The whole birth process was nothing short of brutal, I'll talk about
it some other time, but I had the privilege to be with my baby
sister during the whole process. I saw baby coming out and even
filmed the whole event. It's a miracle and I'm so impressed, grateful,
touched, and in total awe of nature !!

I love that kid to pieces and well, I think he's just so cute and adorable.

Welcome baby !!! I wish you a very, very happy life!

The new crazy AUNT! hihihi
